Ascetic: - Self Initiation (2013)

Ascetic:
Self Initiation
OSCL | Golden Antenna Records

I rarely find brand new bands which I immediately like. I don't know, it's difficult for me nowadays. I prefer old school stuff and am used to that kind of sound. I like more harsh and unpolished output. I even prefer some imperfectness, it makes a human touch to music which nowadays is filled with everything tuned to multi perfections. No hissings and cracklings or anything disgusting, you know. Many of my friends got into bands like Interpol and Editors, but I never really got into them. I tried, but couldn't relate to them. If I had to choose with one I prefer, it would be Editors. I think they have better songs and I like more voice of their singer. After all that stuff is really not my cup of tea. Recently I heard a brand new band called ASCETIC: from Australia through my friend Oskar Terramortis. I've been listening to their album "Self Initiation" quite a lot recently. This is probably the best new album I've heard for a few years. This is also very well produced, but I like the way it has been done. Even it's clean and very professional, there is depth in it which deepens the actual mood of these songs and gains the mood. Just to give you an idea what kind of music this is, think about SWANS, JOY DIVISION and early DEAD CAN DANCE in a carcash on the road to Melbourne. I suggest you to listen a sample or two of them and tell me what do you think? There are few tracks for from that particular album in Youtube. This one is the opening track and pretty much tells you what to expect.
