Biography

Partly Faithful formed in London, UK in the spring of 2011 when original guitarist Gemma Thompson approached former Screaming Banshee Aircrew singer Ed Banshee about creating a band with a "no-nonsense '80s goth sound" to develop genuine post-punk with modern sensibilities. Bassist Christopher Blake was brought in shortly afterwards along with Nosferatu drummer Belle Star, who formed the band's original line-up. Their first gig was opening for The March Violets in Leeds, UK in June 2011.

They released two EPs in 2012 - 'Partly Faithful' and 'The Beehive' - before Gemma left to concentrate on her newly formed all-girl project Savages. After guest appearances from Steve Williams (Christian Death/Altered States) and Murray Fenton (Artery), current guitarist Anouska Haze was recruited in August 2012. Work soon began on their debut album 'Lazarus Under Glass', which was recorded that winter and self-released in April 2013, with distribution from German label Danse Macabre. Reviewers have compared Partly Faithful to Killing Joke, The Pixies, Bauhaus and Joy Division, while the band themselves count Grinderman, Smashing Pumpkins and Einstuerzende Neubauten among their influences. Described by Intravenous Mag as "what modern post-punk should be", Partly Faithful are currently working on new material with a view to releasing another EP in 2014.
